Last night was a pretty low scoring night to cash in most tournaments, unfortunately my score wasn’t enough to crack any of the GPPs, but it was for H2Hs. Today’s action starts earlier than usual so let’s get right into it.

SUGGESTED PLAYS FOR 5/8/14:
P- David Price $9,200- His ERA is high because he had a slow start to the season but he has really picked it up lately. He’s coming off a 7 inning performance where he gave up 8 hits while striking out 8 and getting 13 FP in a no-decision against the Yankees. Tonight he faces the Orioles who as a whole are hitting him for only .276 BA. There are a couple of bats on Baltimore that fair well against Price, but on a short night we have to look at his overall numbers.Without Crush Davis (except this year) the Orioles really only have 2 batters that knock pitchers around and the only one that seems to have Price’s number is Nelson Cruz. I think price follows up his last performance and gets the win tonight.
P- A.J. Burnett $7,800- It pains me to write his name because everytime I do, he poops his pants. But when I say pitchers to avoid, he seems to step it up out of nowhere. I told people to take batters against him because he’s been dealing with a hernia, but somehow, with the hernia, Burnett has been better than ever. He’s facing the Blue Jays today and not many hit him well. Overall, the Jays have a .248 BA. Jose Bautista is the only real threat against Burnett. Just caution because when I suggest him It worries me. Use him at your own risk but I may use him myself after this.
P- R.A. Dickey $7,100- His ERA is atrocious right now but it’s because he had a horrible start to the season, but just like Price, he has stepped it up lately. His last 3 starts he’s lasted at least 6 innings and his lowest ERA this season in a game was 4.63 against the NYY on April 5th. I would only us Dickey in a GPP where miracles happen.
Other Notable Pitchers: Ian Kennedy- $6,900, Scott Carroll- $3,000 (doesn’t K people)
C- Jordan Pacheco $2,400- He’s only faced Matt Harrison two times and he is 1 for 2 .500 BA! But in all honesty, the Rockies are on fire as a team and I’m punting the Catching position today to be able to afford the highest priced pitcher.
C- Carlos Ruiz $3,300- If you decide to pay for a catcher tonight, Ruiz is the way to go. Lifetime against Dickey, Ruiz is 6 for 19 and a .316 ERA. If Dickey is on tonight, Ruiz could be in trouble, but if he’s off track slightly, advantage shifts to Ruiz who could see himself on base multiple times tonight.
1B- Anthony Rizzo $3,700- He’s starting to look like the face of the Cubs right now and hes been heating up. On the year Rizzo has 6 HRs and 16 RBI. Some might be discouraged that Rizzo is facing Scott Carroll who is sporting a .68 ERA, but he has just 3 strikeouts. I think tonight Carroll unravels and Rizzo will be the main beneficiary of it.
3B- Nolan Arenado $4,000- He’s on a tear right now. He’s tied the Rockies franchise record of 27-game hit streak and until he stops producing, I’m going to continue to suggest and use him.
SS- Jimmy Rollins $3,500- Another player who can benefit huge if Dickey is off tonight. If Rollins gets on, he could steal a couple of bases because Dickey takes so long to get his pitch to the plate. I’m using Rollins because of his matchup and I just couldn’t fit Tulo in there with my top pitcher.
OF- Carlos Gonzalez $4,600- His price keeps rising because he keeps having great games. He’s averaging 3.3 FP a game and is coming off a game last night with a double and Hr and 8.25 FP. If you can afford him, he’s sure to have some success against Matt Harrison tonight.
